The current policies of Government of Nepal
(GoN) stress the importance of environmentally sound and sustainable
development of industries. All major projects are now being considered for
application of environmental studies since the enforcement of Environment
Protection Rule (EPR) 1997. Community Forest more than 199 ha has required conducting
Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) and more than 499 ha has require to conduct
EIA before handover the Community Forest User Group (CFUG). A full-scale IEE is required to conclude the
likely impact of project on physical, biological and socioeconomic resources of
the project area. Realizing the increasing pressure on the environmental
concerns and to comply with GoN rules and regulations, some CFUGs has decided to make the IEE study before handover the CF, therefore, BRTF is leading to prepare IEE of their CF
at Chitwan district of Nepal
